Defence Minister, Edgard Alain Mebe Ngo’o yesterday in Yaounde received in audience a delegation from the Russian Federal Service of Technical and Military Cooperation.

The Federal Republic of Russia will in the days ahead concretise its pledge to support Cameroon in the on-going war against the Boko Haram terrorist sect. The assurance was re-echoed yesterday April 14, 2015, in Yaounde, by the Deputy Director of the Russian Federal Service of Technical and Military Cooperation at the Russian Presidency, General Anatoly Punchuk during an audience with the Minister Delegate at the Presidency in charge of Defence, Edgard Alain Mebe Ngo’o.

General Anatoly Punchuk who is leading the Russian delegation to Cameroon told reporters after the closed-door audience with Defence Minister, that the Russian support to Cameroon’s war efforts consists of military equipment, training of Cameroonian military personnel in specialised courses in Russia as well as humanitarian aid to refugees and internally displaced people who have fled Boko Haram insurgences.

Speaking through a translator, the Russian official accompanied by the Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Russia to Cameroon, H.E Nikolay Ratsiborinsky, revealed that his country is ready to deliver military equipment to Cameroon.  To this effect, a technical and military accord between the Republic of Cameroon and the Federal Republic of Russia will be signed today April 15, 2015, at the Ministry of Defence.

Before leaving the premises of the Ministry of Defence, the Russian Delegation also held talks with the Defence Chief of Staff, Lieutenant General Rene Claude Meka, who stressed the importance of the accord between both countries. On his part, the Deputy Director of Russian Federal Service of Technical and Military Cooperation, hailed bilateral ties between both countries stating that the relations are stable marked with heightened confidence.
