Cameroun - Education. 2015 GCE Results:Drop In Advanced Level, Rise In Ordinary Level

The results show a 60 per cent rate for the Advanced Level and 44 per cent for the Ordinary Level.

After a meeting of the Examination Executive Committee, EEC, and endorsement by the Council, the results of the 2015 examinations organised by the Cameroon General Certificate of Education Board, CGCE, were released on Friday, July 31, 2015, in Buea for both the Ordinary and Advanced Levels.

The overall performance at the Ordinary Level shows a percentage increase from 34.41 per cent in 2014 to 44.93 per cent in 2015. At the Advanced Level, there is a decrease from 63.98 per cent in 2014 to 60.41 per cent in 2015. Major highlights of this year’s performance in the GCE Ordinary Level show that 17 schools, mostly denominational and non-denominational, scored 100 per cent. Meanwhile, in the GCE Advanced Level, 12 schools, mostly denominational and non-denominational, had 100 per cent. The best results at the GCE Ordinary Level were obtained by 21 candidates who passed in 11 subjects and scored 33 points on 33. At the Advanced Level, 16 candidates obtained ‘A’ grades in all five subjects; that is, 25 points on a scale of 25.

Suspected Malpractices

As a result of cases of suspected malpractices, results of some candidates and centres were withheld. The centres are GHS Kendem, GSS Bakogo, Summerset Bilingual College, Buea, St. Micheal Seminary, Melong, College Bilingue, Tiako-Melong, GTHS Mamfe and Mamfe Technical External. The GCE Board requests the authorities of these centres and candidates, whose results have been withheld, to appear before the EEC Sub-Committee at the Board in Buea on Thursday 14th August, 2015. The body is tasked with further investigating their cases. Meanwhile, some teachers will also appear before the EEC for various suspected cases of examination malpractices.

Apart from the GCE “O” and “A” Levels, results have also been released for the GCE Ordinary Level Technical Education, the GCE Advanced Level Technical Education, Baccalauréat Technique and related examinations. Candidates are informed that any errors on Result Slips should be made known to the GCE Board through the Centre Authority before 30thNovember, 2015.
