After the brief recess following the end of the first phase of the national championships, the League One and Two championships will resume this weekend with matches counting for the 18th day of play scheduled in stadia across the country. As usual the League Two will set the ball rolling first on Saturday May 28th with five matches and the rest to will be played the following day on Sunday May 29, the same day the League One matches resume.

The top match of the League Two championship will be on Saturday in Mfou pitting relegation threatened AS Etoa Meki against Douala Athletic Club. However the encounter which is going to draw much attention will be the clash between the away leg champions, Feutcheu FC against Ngaoundere University who are fighting to make a comeback to the elite championship.
Other matches of interests include the encounter between the away leg runners-up, Stade Renard and freshly demoted Tonnerre which is in danger of further dropping to the Regional league. The match will take place in Melong of Sunday. A S Matelots and Fovu will continue their effort to make a comeback to the first division when they meet at the Reunification stadium in Douala on Saturday.

The top match of the League One championship will be played between away leg leaders, UMS of Loum and the mythical club from Nkolndongo-Yaounde, Canon. Runners up, Unisport of the Upper Nkam will be locking horns with Botafogo in Douala while third-placed, Union of Douala will be travelling to Mbalmayo to challenge newly promoted Dragon of Yaounde. Yong Sport which has been in good shape since the beginning of the season will be testing their form when they travel to Bafang to slot it out with Lion Blessé.

Meanwhile the Professional League has been multiplying ventures towards the successful organisation of the championships and to improve on club revenue as well as the quality of the game. It is as such that the president of the League, General Pierre Semengue has been invited to attend the Gicam meeting taking place today in Douala where he is expected to present his project to professionalise football in Cameroon and lay out the mechanisms for sponsoring.
In the same vein, a refresher workshop was organised during the break for referees to improve on their performances. As the championship embarks on the second and last, phase, the question on every lip is who is going to emerge champion given the narrow gap separating teams from the top and the bottom of the league table.
