Some 25 players of the intermediate national team were in camp at the CAF Excellence centre in Mbankomo near Yaounde last week to prepare for the upcoming CEMAC Cup. It is worthy to note that this is the first regrouping of the squad ever since Rigobert Song was appointed as manager. The bulk of the players elected by Rigobert Song come from Coton Sport of Garoua and Union of Douala.

There is only one player from the Regional division 2 league in the person of Emile Eyok of FC Avion of Nkam Division. On Thursday July 28, the team received the visit of the double Olympic gold medalists, Françoise Mbango who came to encourage the players as she had done for the Cameroon Olympic team to Rio a few days later.

The training was supervised by the coach of the senior national team, Hugo Broos who is on the quest for fresh blood for the national selection. This quest has taken him to several League 1 and 2 matches such as was the case over the weekend in the encounter between Canon and Astres at the Reunification stadium in Douala.
