Three armed robbery suspects were on Friday, September 23, 2016, handed over to the State Counsel to the Yaounde Military Tribunal for assaulting, seriously wounding and seizing the service pistol of a Constable. The victim is of the Mobile Police Unit Number One, Yaounde. According to the Commander of the Yaounde I Gendarmerie Company, Captain Ndongo Jean Alain, the incident occurred early in the morning of September 5, 2016, in the Petit Marché area of Odza, Yaounde.

The supposed gang leader, Kang Edima, alias “Commandant Zabra,” Ndoe Ndoe Ulrich Raymond, alias “Mascote Ndolé,” and Molioum Mohammed, alias “Mohammed,” who were on a motorbike, assaulted and ordered the policeman to hand over all what he had on him. Not ready to give in so easily, the Constable quickly drew his service pistol to defend himself, but received a deep machete cut on his shoulder, causing the pistol to drop on the ground. The robbers thereafter fled on the bike, collecting the pistol. A concerned passerby later took the wounded policeman to hospital, Captain Ndongo Jean narrated.

Informed, gendarmes immediately swung into action, picking up Kang Edima on September 7, 2016, at Mvan Junction near the Santa Lucia Supermarket. This facilitated the arrest of his suspected accomplices, Ndoe Ndoe Ulrich Raymond and Molioum Mohammed in different parts of Yaounde. A search of Kang Edima’s residence led to the recovery of the stolen police service pistol, the motorbike the armed robbery suspects used in the operation and an ammunitions charger containing 9 ammunitions. The three men are said to have organised raids in at least four Yaounde neighbourhoods in August 2016. They targeted, isolated and then robbed their victims, Captain Ndongo Jean Alain told Cameroon Tribune.
