JE NE PEUX PLUS RESTER TRANQUILLE

Alors que la crise anglophone sombre dans l’ensauvagement, le dialogue, la justice, la réconciliation et la paix restent les mots-clés d’une solution durable. C’est ce que nous disons depuis le début de cette tragédie qui sombre chaque jour un peu plus dans l’horreur qui crucifie femmes et enfants sous nos yeux. Ma foi de chrétien, prêtre, prophète et roi, m’interdit l’indifférence. Notre indifférence est devenue un péché collectif. Je ne peux plus rester tranquille. Mais que vais-je faire ?

L’Eglise catholique au Cameroun a-t-elle assez fait pour mettre la pression sur le gouvernement camerounais et les ambazoniens pour une solution négociée à cette crise ? Je ne le pense pas. Et quand je parle ici d’église catholique, je ne pense pas seulement aux évêques et aux prêtres, mais aussi aux laïcs qui vont à la messe chaque dimanche. Qu’avons-nous fait pour le retour de la paix dans le NO/SO ? Que faisons-nous pour le retour de la paix dans le NO/SO ? Que ferons-nous pour le retour de la paix dans le NO/SO ?

Le 22 mai 2018, les évêques nigérians organisaient une marche pacifique de protestation contre les tueries et prises d’otages dans ce pays. Le 1er mars 2020, La conférence des évêques du Nigeria était en première ligne d’une marche contre l’insécurité et les tueries dans le pays. A chaque fois, le clergé était en première ligne, comme des bergers, suivi de laïcs. C’est ce qu’il nous faut au Cameroun aujourd’hui jusqu’à ce que le gouvernement et les ambazoniens se mettent à la table du dialogue au nom de la justice et de la paix, au nom de la dignité humaine. L’indifférence de l’Eglise catholique au Cameroun est un péché. « Heureux les artisans paix » (Mt 5, 9), « heureux les persécutés pour la justice » (Mt 5, 10), c’est maintenant qu’il faut le vivre concrètement au Cameroun.

Si d’ici le mois Octobre 2020, L’Eglise catholique, l’Etat Camerounais et les ambazoniens n’ont rien fait pour le dialogue, la justice, la réconciliation et la paix dans le NO/SO, je ferai ma part. Je n’ai rien à cacher. J’entamerai un pèlerinage pédestre qui m’amènera de Bamenda à Buea en passant par Yaoundé et Douala jusqu’à ce que les belligérants entendent raison et mettent fin à la souffrance humaine dans ces régions. Saint Ignace de Loyola, mon second coach, après Jésus Chrst, était un pèlerin de Dieu.

Mais je ne prendrai mon bâton de pèlerin que si l’église comme communauté de prêtres, prophètes, et rois, disciples de Jésus Christ, le martyr par excellence, persiste dans l’indifférence après le mois de septembre. Je suis déjà préparé à mourir pour cette cause, s’il le faut. Mieux vaut mourir pour la cause de la justice pour tous que de mourir de Covid-19. Si je venais à croiser la mort lors de ce pélérinage, Ceci tiendrait alors lieu de mon testament. Sur ma tombe, il suffira d’inscrire : « Heureux les persécutés pour la justice » (Mt 5, 10). L'indignation ne suffit plus. Je ne peux plus rester tranquille.

INDIFFERENCE IN CAMEROON IS A SIN

As the Anglophone crisis go wild and breeds more horror, dialogue, justice, reconciliation and peace remain the keywords for a lasting solution. This is what I have been advocating since the beginning of this tragedy which sinks deeper every day into the horror of brutal killings of women and children. My faith as a Christian (priest, prophet and king) is incompatible with indifference. Our indifference as a church has become a collective sin. I can no longer be still. But what am I going to do?

Has the Catholic Church in Cameroon done enough to put pressure on the Cameroonian government and the Ambazonians for a negotiated solution to this crisis? I do not think so. And when I speak here of the Catholic Church, I am not only thinking of the bishops and priests, but also of the laity who go to mass every Sunday. What have we done for the return of peace in the NW / SW? What are we doing for the return of peace in the NW / SW? What should we do for the return of peace in the NW / SW?

On May 22, 2018, the Nigerian bishops organized a peaceful protest march against the killings and hostage-taking in their country. On March 1, 2020, the Nigerian Bishops' Conference was at the forefront of a march against insecurity and the continuing killings in the country. They themselves were in front, like shepherds, followed by lay people. This is what we need in Cameroon today until the government and Ambazonians come to the table of negociations in the name of justice and peace, in the name of human dignity. The indifference of the Catholic Church in Cameroon is a sin. "Happy are the peacemakers" (Mt 5, 9), "happy are the persecuted for justice" (Mt 5, 10), says the Master. It is now that we must live it concretely in Cameroon.

If by October 2020, the Catholic Church, the Cameroonian state and the Ambazonians have done nothing for dialogue, justice, reconciliation and peace in the NW/ SW, I will do my part. I have nothing to hide. Here are my plans. I will embark on a pedestrian pilgrimage that will take me from Bamenda to Buea via Yaoundé and Douala until the belligerents come to their senses and put an end to human suffering in these regions. I will keep walking until violence stops. And those who want to join me are welcome to do so, if their heart moves them. Saint Ignatius of Loyola, my second coach, after Jesus Christ, was a pilgrim of God.

But I will only take my pilgrim's staff if the church as a community of priests, prophets, and kings, disciples of Jesus Christ, the martyr par excellence, persists in the sin of indifference beyond the month of september. I'm already prepared to die for this cause, if I have to. It is better to die defending the Lord's sheep than to die of Covid-19. If it happens, then consider this small piece as my will. On my grave, it will suffice to write: "Blessed are the persecuted for justice" (Mt 5:10). I can no longer stay put up with indifference.
