The Handball departmental league competition of women took place at the Petou Institute in Yaounde on March 7, 2018 write CT.

In prelude to the 33rd edition of the International Women’s day, the Minister of Women’s Empowerment and the Family organised a series of activities among which a handball tournament at the Petou Institute in Yaounde. The 9th edition of the handball competition started on March 3, 2018 and ended on March 7, 2018.

The aim of the activity was to ensure that women celebrate in team spirit. It was under the patronage of the Minister of Women’s Empowerment and the Family Professor Marie Thérèse Abena Ondoua, the president of the handball departmental league of Mfoundi Honourable Ottou Jeanne and Essono Francis Lin the Coordinator.

The teams that were to play the finals were women representing the Presidency of the Republic (PRC), Agence National De Participation Au Developpement (ASCNPD), Yaounde Central Hospital (YCH) and the Yaounde Gynaeco- Obstetric and Pediatric Hospital (YGOPH).  The first match started with the women of PRC playing against ASCNPD.

This match was to see the team that will occupy the 3rd position in the competition. ASCNPD won with a score of 12 goals to six. Then followed the main final of the tournament which was the women of the Yaounde Central Hospital playing against those of the Yaounde Gynaeco-Obstetric and Pediatric Hospital. The women of Yaounde Central Hospital finally won with a score of 16 goals to 15.
