The military family in Buea on Friday, January 19, 2018 gave their last respect to their fallen colleague, Mareshal de Logie Chef Njongo John. This was at the 21st Motorised Infantry Battalion where a mixed team made up of soldiers and Gendarmeries paid him military honours; joined by the bereaved family, friends and sympathisers.
In military calculated steps, the casket bearing the remains of Njongo John was ushered in to the ceremonial ground amidst wailing from family members. South West Governor, Bernard Okalia Bilai decorated the fallen gendarmerie officer with the Medal of Bravery.
The lone eulogy presented portrays a man who dedicated his life and services to the nation. It revealed how on December 18, 2017, Ngongo John who served under the Gendarmerie Company in Mamfe was on his duty post in Kembong village in Manyu Division of the South West Region. Together with three other colleagues, they were attacked by assailants and murdered in cold blood.
Born in 1968 in Lebialem Division, Njongo John was recruited into the Cameroon military service in 1987. He leaves behind two wives and many children to mourn him. The mortal remains were conveyed on January 19, 2018 to his native Lebialem Division for burial.
