Sécurité Soudan : Un convoi humanitaire de l’ONU attaqué au Darfour-Nord, l’ONU exige des comptes

Un convoi transportant de l’aide alimentaire pour le Programme alimentaire mondial (PAM) et l’Unicef a été pris pour cible à El-Kouma, dans un contexte d’escalade des violences. Les Nations unies dénoncent des violations «flagrantes» du droit international humanitaire et pointent du doigt les Forces de soutien rapide (FSR), a appris cameroun24.

La crise humanitaire au Soudan plonge un peu plus dans l’horreur. Dans la nuit de lundi, un convoi des Nations unies acheminant de l’aide alimentaire a été attaqué à El-Kouma, dans le Darfour-Nord. Le véhicule, qui devait rejoindre El Fasher, était en attente d’autorisation lorsque les assaillants ont frappé.

Cette attaque s’inscrit dans une spirale de violence qui secoue le Soudan depuis avril 2023, date à laquelle les tensions entre le général Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, président du Conseil de souveraineté, et Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo, chef des Forces de soutien rapide (FSR), ont dégénéré en guerre ouverte. Les combats, initialement concentrés à Khartoum et Merowe, se sont étendus à tout le pays, faisant des milliers de morts et plus de 13 millions de déplacés.

"Une violation flagrante du droit international"

Kristine Hambrouck, coordinatrice humanitaire de l’ONU au Soudan, a vivement condamné ces attaques, qualifiant ces actes de "violations flagrantes du droit international humanitaire". Dans une déclaration relayée par ReliefWeb, elle a rappelé deux autres incidents récents :

•     L’hôpital saoudien d’El Fasher, frappé par un drone le 30 mai, faisant six morts parmi le personnel médical.
•     Les locaux du PAM à El Obeid, bombardés à plusieurs reprises, endommageant gravement un centre humanitaire critique.

"Les responsables de ces attaques doivent rendre des comptes", a-t-elle martelé, accusant directement les FSR d’être à l’origine de ces exactions.

Une crise humanitaire qui s’aggrave

Dans un pays où des millions de civils dépendent de l’aide internationale pour survivre, ces attaques contre les infrastructures humanitaires aggravent une situation déjà catastrophique. Hambrouck a appelé toutes les parties belligérantes à "cesser immédiatement" ces actions et à respecter leurs obligations en vertu du droit international.

Alors que la communauté internationale observe, impuissante, la tragédie soudanaise, une question demeure : jusqu’où ira cette escalade de violence avant qu’une réelle pression diplomatique ne s’exerce ?

Sudan: UN Humanitarian Convoy Attacked in North Darfur, UN Demands Accountability

A convoy carrying food aid for the World Food Programme (WFP) and UNICEF was targeted in El-Kouma, North Darfur, amid escalating violence. The United Nations condemns "blatant" violations of international humanitarian law, pointing fingers at the Rapid Support Forces (RSF).

The humanitarian crisis in Sudan is sinking deeper into horror. On the night of monday, a UN aid convoy transporting food supplies was attacked in El-Kouma, North Darfur. The vehicle, en route to El Fasher, was awaiting authorization when assailants struck.

This attack is part of a spiral of violence that has gripped Sudan since April 2023, when tensions between General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, head of the Sovereignty Council, and Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo (Hemedti), leader of the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), erupted into open war. Initially confined to Khartoum and Merowe, the fighting has now spread nationwide, leaving thousands dead and over 13 million displaced.

"A Blatant Violation of International Law"

Kristine Hambrouck, UN Humanitarian Coordinator in Sudan, strongly condemned the attacks, calling them "blatant violations of international humanitarian law." In a statement published by ReliefWeb, she highlighted two recent incidents:
 

•     The Saudi Hospital in El Fasher, hit by a drone strike on May 30, killing six medical staff.
•     WFP facilities in El Obeid, repeatedly bombed, severely damaging a critical humanitarian hub.

"Those responsible must be held accountable," she insisted, directly accusing the RSF of carrying out these atrocities.

A Worsening Humanitarian Catastrophe

In a country where millions rely on international aid to survive, attacks on humanitarian infrastructure are deepening an already dire crisis. Hambrouck urged all warring parties to "immediately cease" these actions and comply with international law.

As the international community watches helplessly, one question remains: how far will this violence escalate before real diplomatic pressure is applied?
