Throughout the competition, the Nigerians were tipped as favourites and their winning the trophy was not a surprise to many football lovers.

Coached by Florence Omagbemi, the Nigerians topped Pool B with seven points wining two matches and drawing. Nigeria has dominated the competition, winning all but two of the 10 editions played so far.
